George Washington

If there is one man worth to be revered as the Father of the United States, it would be none other than George Washington. Born on the 22nd day of February 1732, Washington has devoted several years of his life to guide his country in a manner resembling a father caring for his growing child. Washington largely influenced the beginnings of the United States. His unparalleled service to the country allowed his reputation to reach mythic proportions. During the Revolutionary War, he served as the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army. He and his troops were able to gain for the country its independence from the British forces.

He was the president of the convention who drafted the Constitution. He was the first to be elected as President of the United States of America from 1789-1797. By the time he left office, the economy was already well established. Threat against the east of Mississippi by the Indians was significantly eliminated. The territorial boundaries of the country had been enlarged and serious diplomatic conflicts had been eradicated. The new federal government gained the acceptance of political parties. In his Farewell Address, he expressed his opposition against permanent alliances abroad. He retired on his estate at Mount Vernon.

His health rapidly decline due to what could have been an acute laryngitis or quinsy. On the 14th day of December 1799, he finally succumbed to death.
