Historical facts

In starting the real step to the realization of my dream, I intend to finish history. My interest in history has been developed through extensive experiences in school and from people who are known in history. At first, I perceived history as a boring, not challenging, and uninteresting subject. But through exposures to historical facts and from stories shared by people around me, I came to love history. When I was still a child, my grandfather shared to me his struggles, especially during the holocaust.

My grandfather’s complex life experience has touched my heart. The way he delivered his story of his hardest struggle has made my tears shed for a moment. From there, I realized how sad yet challenging his life was. Upon listening to my grandfather’s story, I thought of writing his life story but it did not materialized. In entering high school, I began to appreciate history because the subject is stuffed with interesting facts about people, dates, and places, among others.

In addition, it was through my history class that I felt like I travelled around the world by learning the history and other necessary information about each country. Significantly, history made me understood the factors that contributed to the present status of the world. Since then, I came to form my decision to pursue history. Notably, my desire to finish history in the future was also intensified when I was luckily afforded with a gift which is a free educational trip to Israel by the famous Taglit-Birthright Israel.

The purpose of the gist was initially to send thousands of young Jewish adults from all over the world to Israel as a gift in order to diminish the growing division between Israel and Jewish communities around the world. In addition, the founder also desired to strengthen the sense of solidarity among world Jewry and to strengthen the personal Jewish identity and connection to the Jewish people of the participants.

From my experiences, I learned the importance of preserving the roots of man’s and society’s evolution. At the same time, I found it interesting to contribute to the development of the history because of the fast-changing time that some historical facts are being forgotten by the present generation. Further, I realized that preservation of history is a sign of respect to the shard works and dedication of our ancestors who have made life easier for us today.
