The movie “Oppenheimer”

This is a movie review of the movie “Oppenheimer. ” Oppenheimer was directed by Barry Davis and was released on May 11th, 1980 in USA. The plot of the movie basically revolves around the biography of the American physicist who led the U. S. effort to develop the atomic bomb during World War II. The movie further shows that this American physicist later finds himself suspected as a security risk in the 1950s. This was because of his increasing abilities about the effect of his life’s work.

The main character that the movie stars is Sam Waterston and he is the person who is actually the controversial atomic scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer in the movie that is the seven-part British miniseries. Other people in the movie are John Carson who is the narrator and these two are the only people who have been in all seven episodes. However, the rest have done six or less episodes. The movie also won the BAFTA TV Award in 1981 and it has also been nominated for the Emmy Awards and the Golden Globes Award.

Every scientist was eager to prove the efficiency of atomic energy as a weapon for peace and so was Oppenheimer; moreover they also wanted to beat the Nazis in the development of the A-Bomb. However, when the first test explosion took place in Los Alamos, Oppenheimer came to a conclusion and realized that “I had become death.

” Therefore, he dedicated the rest of his life to the pursuit of peace without having to resort to nuclear armament and became a security risk to the U. S. government. He was also one of the most famous and prominent victims of the postwar anti-communist hysteria.
